Mental Health & Resilience
At our recent LD2 Community Meeting, we took time to focus on something critical to the fight for democracy: our mental health. In today’s climate of political violence, extremist rhetoric, and government overreach, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But as we reminded each other, taking care of ourselves is not selfish – it’s a political act.
We discussed the warning signs of burnout, shared tools for resilience like setting boundaries, leaning on community, and practicing simple breathing techniques, and emphasized the importance of checking in on our friends, neighbors, and fellow activists.
📞 We also highlighted resources, including the 988 Crisis Line, the Maricopa County Warm Line (602-347-1100), and NAMI Arizona (1-800-950-6264).
The key takeaway: Mental health is community health. To keep fighting for democracy, we must take care of ourselves and each other, because the resistance is strongest when we’re strong together.
Take care of yourself, friends!
